Competitions have been organized into six tiers, reflecting their relative difficulty. Competitions in Tier 1 can earn players the most points, and points decrease in lower tiers.

Tier Examples below:

  • Tier 1: NYSA Singles League
  • Tier 2: Advanced Knockouts, NY National Tournament
  • Tier 3: Intermediate Knockouts, Tangsgiving, Open National Tournaments, Mirror Lake Championship
  • Tier 4: Consolation for Singles League, Consolation for Advanced Knockout, Consolation for NY National
  • Tier 5: Consolation for Intermediate Knockout, Consolation for Open National Tournaments
  • Tier 6: Tier 3 Consolation tournaments that fall below competitor thresholds

Tier Qualifications:

  • Any tournament must have 16+ competitors to be eligible for State Points
  • NYSA Singles League must have 80+ competitors or will drop down a tier
  • Knockout Brackets must have 48+ competitors or will drop down a tier
  • Out of state Tournaments must have 24+ competitors or will drop down a tier

Other Notes:

  • An individual can only earn state points from one tier/placement per tournament. For example, if an individual wins the consolation bracket of Singles league, they will earn 300 points and 0 points from Participation. But if an individual finishes in the 9th-16th place of the Consolation, they will earn 75 points from Participation (if they played all their matches) OR 60 points from Tier 5 (whichever is greater)
  • Advancing to Main Playoffs in Singles League guarantees 75 points
  • Consolation competitors who complete 100% of group matches are also guaranteed 75 points
  • Competitors can only earn points from one Knockout bracket (intermediate or advanced) per season. Players who compete in both will be awarded points from whichever bracket they earn a greater number from.

New tournaments may be added at the discretion of the NYSA Competitive Play Committee. If you’ve hosted an event you believe should be eligible for New York State Points, email [email protected]
